Why R290
The Benefits at a Glance
Very low GWP
With a GWP of 0.02, R290 is far lower than traditional HFC refrigerants and is therefore consistent with the long-term reduction of pollutants.
High energy efficiency (EER)
Thanks to its excellent thermodynamic properties, R290 is well-suited for efficient cooling solutions in control cabinet air conditioning.
F-Gas-independent solutions
Natural refrigerants are a key strategy for reducing dependence on the limitations of conventionally used refrigerants (R134A).
Suitable for compact devices
The low fill volume makes it suitable for use in compact control cabinet cooling units. This allows for integration even in confined spaces.
Can be used worldwide
The SLIMLINE NEO has a fill volume of < 100 g and can be shipped worldwide by air freight in accordance with international regulations.
Future-Proof Technology
R290 supports sustainable, F-gas-free cooling solutions and prepares control cabinet cooling units for future regulatory requirements.

What operators want to know
Is R290 really suitable for industrial use?
Yes. R290 is a natural refrigerant in safety class A3. The SLIMLINE-NEO units were developed for safe use in control cabinet cooling and meet the safety requirements specified in IEC/EN/UL 60335-2-40. The key factors here are that the units are designed in accordance with the standards and that they are installed and used properly.
Do I have to replace my existing devices right away?
No. It is not absolutely necessary to replace existing systems immediately. However, for new installations, R290 is a forward-looking solution: As a natural and PFAS-free refrigerant, R290 meets the upcoming requirements of the European F-Gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573. Whether a replacement makes sense depends on the specific system, its condition, and the applicable regulatory requirements.
How do energy costs differ between R290 and the previous refrigerant?
The SLIMLINE NEO combines the natural refrigerant R290 with speed-controlled inverter technology and achieves an energy efficiency ratio (EER) of up to 3.6. This means that, under the specified operating conditions, up to 3.6 watts of heat can be removed for every watt of electrical power consumed.
Regulating cooling capacity based on actual needs reduces energy consumption compared to conventional, unregulated refrigeration units. Depending on environmental conditions and the set target temperature, energy savings of up to 76% are possible.
Can R290 units be used and transported worldwide?
SLIMLINE-NEO units are designed for international use in control cabinet cooling. However, the specific requirements for shipping and transport—particularly for air freight—depend on the specific unit model, the refrigerant charge, the packaging, and the regulations applicable to the route.
